Vassal
Lane French students recently went on a field trip to Boston which
focused on discovering French influences in terms of the history of
Boston. The first stop was the State House to see examples of the French
- American alliance in the Revolutionary War and in the World Wars.
Students also visited the Shaw Memorial since Saint-Gaudens the artist
who created it studied in France.
On the next stop, we looked at the Second Empire architecture of the
old City Hall and learned about Peter Fanueil whose family were Huguenot
immigrants from France (Okay too we ate some French food.... that is a
little less academic, but fun!!). Overall, the students and staff had a
great time and learned alot about French history.
